Don’t Cut Seniors’ Medicare Benefits!

Right now, Medicare is being targeted for budget cuts by certain members of Congress who want to use the funding for other federal government projects – specifically to expand the government controlled children’s health program. If Congress is successful, Medicare could see cuts of more than $50 billion over the next five years!

What would cuts like this mean if you are a member of a Medicare health plan?

  • Your out-of-pocket costs could rise;
  • Your health plan might not provide as many benefits as it does now;
  • Some seniors might lose the option of choosing a Medicare Advantage plan.
On behalf of our almost 400,000 senior citizen supporters, RetireSafe is focusing its grassroots efforts on urging Congress not to cut Medicare benefits. If these payment cuts are mandated, millions of older Americans on Medicare could face serious benefit cuts or lose their current coverage all together.

In addition to the $50 billion slash and burn of seniors’ Medicare plans, some in Congress also favor cutting:

  • $6.5 billion from Medicare nursing home benefits;
  • $7.2 billion from seniors’ Medicare home health benefits;
  • $11.4 billion from acute care hospitals, inpatient rehabilitation facilities, long term care hospitals;
  • $6 billion for seniors with home oxygen equipment;
  • $3.4 billion for dialysis facilities for seniors with kidney problems;
  • $2.9 billion for specialty hospitals; and,
  • $900 million by limiting seniors’ access to power wheelchairs.
Everyone supports health coverage for poor children, but the plan before Congress expands that coverage to include “children” up to age 25 and families with incomes of $80,000 a year. While ensuring that needy children have access to affordable health care is a noble goal, a massive expansion on the backs of seniors and Medicare is despicable!

We need your help to stop these massive Medicare cuts now!
