Jim J. Marquez


Mr. Jim Marquez practices in the area of transportation and related matters. He is experienced in aviation matters and represents domestic and foreign air carriers in regulatory and administrative matters, bilateral aviation issues and general business matters such as aircraft leasing and registration. Mr. Marquez also represents domestic airports on Federal regulatory, legislative, environmental issues and general business matters. He is also experienced in airport and seaport privatization matters and has counseled trucking and aviation companies on the transport of hazardous materials and highway funding issues. In addition, Mr. Marquez represents trucking companies on issues concerning hours of service, FMCSA safety compliance issues, and related civil penalty enforcement matters.

Mr. Marquez served as General Counsel of the United States Department of Transportation during the Reagan Administration. Prior to that appointment, he served as United States Attorney for the District of Kansas pursuant to an appointment by President Reagan. Mr. Marquez also served as legal counsel in the Office of the Governor in Kansas.

Mr. Marquez is admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court, United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, United States Court of Military Appeals, District of Columbia Court of Appeals and the Kansas Supreme Court.

Mr. Marquez earned his B.A. from the University of New Mexico in 1965 and a Juris Doctor from Washburn School of Law in 1973.
